Sony BMG has admitted that instead of the 20 CDs containing the much criticised Sony XPC Root Kit Software there are in fact 50 titles in their catalogue that will muck up your PC.

Sony are recalling all affected CDs and offering customers an exchange when the Root Kit-less versions are released.The Root Kit has already been used by virus writers and removal tools can lock your CD drive. One way around it is to disable “AutoPlay” on your CD player but whatever you do, don’t use the Sony uninstaller as apparently it’s just as bad s the RootKit itself.
