You may get to a point in your life where you feel like you’re not progressing anywhere. It’s perfectly normal to feel this way, but when you do it can be difficult to see a way out of the situation.

In this article we look at 5 ways you can kick-start your life that won’t require a radical change to your lifestyle and can be implemented in under 12 months.

Improve your education

Education is more accessible than ever, no longer do you need to go back to college or university full time for three years to get the qualifications you need. With so many online degrees, diplomas, masters and more that you can study right from your own home, there’s no excuse why you can’t give it a go. These courses are flexible and can be fitted in around a full time job, childcare and any other commitments you have. It gives you new goals to work towards, improves your mind and can make you more employable.

Give your career a boost

Speaking of employability, moving forward in your career is another way you can genuinely improve your life. If you’ve been stuck in a rut for a while and are unhappy about where you’re going in your career then have a think about what you could do. You could ask for a promotion and be moved up to do something more challenging, or by taking on some education you could apply for higher positions. You might even consider changing career completely if you’re no longer inspired by what you do.

Find a new hobby

Hobbies are crucial for people of all ages. They keep us productive when we’re not working, they help us to build our skills and can enable us to meet like minded people (which is always difficult to do in adulthood). Join a local class, it could be for anything from cooking to painting. Start a hobby online such as novel writing or blogging and search for those doing the same on social media. Something you enjoy will help you to relax and can help to break the ‘work, eat, sleep, repeat’ cycle.

Travel

Travel opens your mind and introduces you to all kinds of incredible things that you just would never have seen or done if you’d have stayed at home. It’s not just about going on holiday for two weeks and lying on a beach (as great as that is!) Attempt to travel for longer if you can, go backpacking, stay in motels and travel hostels, visit locations that are off the beaten path. You could even consider moving abroad for a year if your situation allows it. Have your stuff shipped over with a company like National Pallets and then submerge yourself in the country by living and working there and getting to know the locals.

Sort out your finances

Money matters in life, whether or not you like it, we need money. It’s what keeps a roof over our head and food in our cupboards. It’s what enables us to live the life we want. It’s not always about earning more money, but using what we have to the best of our ability. Use budgeting software or an app to help you keep on top of your finances. Set up a savings plan so that you’re putting a little away each week or month. Sort out things like insurances and pensions too. Once it’s all done you’ll have peace of mind and be far more organised.
