Whether you are an employer or an employee, it’s always useful to get tips on how to be more productive when working.
Here are some ways that can help you to have a more constructive day:
Set deadlines
Know what your goals are and when jobs need to be completed by. Keep a list of your deadlines and have a clear outcome for each one and always determine your priorities and complete the hardest parts of the tasks first. It’s very beneficial to create a checklist to work from, which will help you identify how long a project should be taking you.
Take breaks
This is an area that can often be overlooked and we often assume that we can make up time by working through our breaks. In Reality you are cheating yourself by burning yourself out.
Stop multitasking
If you keep all of your eggs in one basket and juggle them around, you will not effectively tackle them.
You’ll complete them faster if you handle them one at a time.
Cut down on your meetings
Being stuck in a meeting can be the main way to drain your time away during a working day. If you deadlines meet and feel that lots of meetings are unproductive to your day, then find a way of opting out of them.
Limit the time taken on tasks
Make sure that you are not spending too much time on task. Don’t let your time be eaten up by trickier tasks. If you split them up into smaller chunks, then they will seem far less daunting to you.
Take on larger tasks when you’re at your best
If you work better first thing in the morning, then it might be a good idea to start with the task that will take up the most time. You will be more productive and proactive at dealing with it when you are more alert.
Have optimum working conditions
The working environment needs to work for the use. Not only should you think about the layout of the space, but you should think about the light that is available in the room. Dark and gloomy workspaces are not great for keeping people alert and if your office is lacking the light it needs then a Ufo high bay LED could be the perfect solution to keep the space bright.
Manage interruptions
If you have a deadline looming, make sure that your colleagues are aware of this and know to minimize interruptions. You can also set your status to busy/unavailable, so that no one bothers you on work chat apps.
Drink throughout the day
It might seem like an obvious part of a working day, but plenty of people forego drinking enough fluids. Not drinking enough leads to dehydration, which in turn can cause headaches and tiredness.
Make sure that you are drinking some water in between those caffeinated drinks by keeping a water bottle to hand. It takes just seconds to keep hydrated and you’ll start to reap the benefits. Apart from the obvious health benefits of drinking water, there are many other reasons to increase your fluid intake – and you don’t have to drink plain old boring water either, you can infuse it with fruit or even herbs!
