Hide Desktop Distractions With Doodim
I thought I’d share a nifty little Mac program with you all that allows you to eliminate desktop distractions and helps you to focus on what you’re working on. Doodim is a freeware application that hides all of the rubbish on your desktop and other open windows to allow you to concentrate on the task at hand.
I thought I’d share a nifty little Mac program with you all that allows you to eliminate desktop distractions and helps you to focus on what you’re working on.
Doodim is a freeware application that hides all of the rubbish on your desktop and other open windows to allow you to concentrate on the task at hand.
So, here we have my usually messy screen with about 15 windows open:
Doodim sits in the finder menu bar and can be activated in a couple of quick clicks to produce the following:
You can set varying levels of “darkness” and the dock stays above Doodim so that you can access your programs quickly.
CMD+Tabbing through windows brings the chosen window to the front and dims the others.
I only have two complaints, firstly that on a multiple monitor display, Doodim only works on the main monitor (perhaps I’m being picky) and I can’t seem to get the program to run at login so it needs to be started manually but apart from that it’s well worth a look.
You can download Doodim here. Please shout-out in the comments if you know of any similar applications for Windows.
“Hide desktop-Anti-Boss Key
The only bosskey application I could find that has all the needed features – hide desktop, hide tray icons, mute sound, vista support and more.”
“Thanks for that – looks quite promising”
