We’ve got the Victorians to thank for our city’s amazing parks and greenery so it would be a shame not to make the most of them. Here’s just a short list of some of the best park runs in London this year.
Hackney Marshes Park Run
The Hackney Marshes park run takes place every Saturday at 9am, so it may not be one for the hungover students and Friday night party animals. The Hackney Marshes park run is free to enter and does not cost a penny – all you need to do is sign up on the website and you’re free to use your barcode from then on. The Hackney Marshes Park Run is a 5km race where you and many other Londoners can run at your own pace and join in whenever you feel like it for some good old fashioned exercise. If you’re coming down for the weekend, the Dorsett Hotel, Shepherds Bush is a perfect place to stay.
Bushy Park Run
Similar to the Hackney Marshes park run, the Bushy Park run in Teddington is free to enter and takes place every Saturday at 9AM. The 5km run means that it’s just you, your trainers, a brisk Saturday morning and the impending seconds of your own personal best. Once you’ve signed up you don’t have to sign up again and can simply use your barcode to enter each week. The Bushy Park Run is free for all to enter.
Ally Pally Park Run
The famous Alexandra Park is home to the Ally Pally Park Run, which is also a 5km race against the clock. Although we call it a race, the only person you’ll be racing against is yourself and your very own personal best. Stretch your legs and tighten your trainers and join hundreds of morning runners each and every Saturday at 9am for this amazing event in London. Similar to all of London’s park runs there’s no entry fee, but we do advise you to sign up online and use your barcode to join. The park runs are hosted by volunteers, so any donations certainly do count.
Lloyd Park Run
When it comes to the Lloyd Park Run everyone takes this one at their own pace. With a mixture of experienced and amateur runners, as well as people simply out for a little bit of fun, this 5km race is one of the best Park Run’s in London – and for good reason. There’s no need to pay an entry fee, simply sign up online and come down with your barcode ready to be scanned at 9am every Saturday morning.
There are many other park runs available and hosted throughout the city each and every Saturday. For a full list of all the park runs and how you can get involved visit the Official ParkRun website, today.
