As a business grows you may find that you outgrow the situation of working from home and decide to embark on the next chapter by having your own business premises. With that may come the idea of having employees hired to do specific tasks within your business, freeing up time for you to focus on the areas you can make the biggest impact. However, it is always a good idea to try and make it an easy environment to work in so that your staff can be productive. So I thought I would share with you some ideas on how you can make more out of your office environment.

Duplication could be a thing of the past

For many people, a lot of their jobs involve duplication and in many cases this is down to documents that they raise and amend on a daily basis. It could be invoices, it might be presentations or forms, or even letters. It can be time consuming to create fresh new documents, so this is when things like document automation could come in handy. It would potentially free up more time for your employees to use for other tasks involved, and could make working life a lot easier.

Make the office a greener environment

There is a real focus on greener policies at the moment and as an employer you do have a responsibility to ensure that you do your bit. This is when you can try and make sure that the office has the right facilities when it comes to recycling. Correct bins for certain materials and policies in place for older technology so that the right thing is done. You could even encourage a car sharing scheme or a ride to work incentive so that you do your boat to reduce the carbon footprint of the business.

Incentivise your staff

Everyone loves an incentive, don’t they? Incentives can range from different things. It could be that you get the chance to win a prize if you make a sale or confirm a deal, it could be that you incentivise with bonus payments or small items like a bottle of winter or cinema tickets. Often these sorts of schemes can work well on days when you know that you staff are doing extra, perhaps working bank holidays or simply putting in the extra hours.

Take care of the basics

Finally, make sure that you take care of the basics when it comes to looking after your staff at the business premises. Things like a kitchen or coffee and tea making facilities will go a long way. If you don’t have the capacity for a kitchen you could consider something like a fridge so that food can be kept cool. On the topic of temperature you also have a responsibility to ensure that you keep the officers warm in the winter and cool in the summer. This will be so that your staff are able to work and feel comfortable.
