Whether you’re a student moving to and from home/dorms, have to move frequently with work or are moving for the first time, moving from one place to another can be stressful, especially considering how you will uproot your entire life along with your belongings to settle in a new place. There are some factors that will make the whole ordeal an overwhelming experience for you. But then again, there are tips that can be taken into account for a hassle-free move. Keeping this in mind, here are 7 of the best tips for you to prepare accordingly.

Plan Early

As soon as you are sure you need to move, you will have to begin planning at that very moment. The earlier, the better. Get everything you need, especially packing supplies, so you won’t have to run for them later on when the time is short.

It’s also a good idea to make an inventory at this point so you can see what you will be taking with you and what you may have to put into storage.

Pack Way Beforehand

Rather than waiting until it is too late, pack way beforehand. Begin with items that you don’t use that often – ask yourself if you really need them before you pack (see point 3) or think about putting them into storage so you don’t have to move and unpack them.

Pack a room at a time, so that you can unpack them as they are straight into the appropriate room at your new place. Also, label the boxes to easily navigate through everything you have packed – write rough notes of what’s in each box so you can quickly locate the essential items when you start to unpack. Some of the moving companies also offer the service of packing and unpacking your boxes, so it’s worth considering that option as well.

Home Improvement Projects That Will Add Value To Your Home
Unsure of where to start with your home improvement project? Here are five projects that are guaranteed to add value to your home.

Donate stuff you don’t need

When preparing for a move, you will come to realize you own a lot of stuff you don’t actually need any more. In this case, it is always a good idea to donate such stuff, so that it may benefit others instead.

Even though you can always sell stuff you own and don’t use any more, it will be an even more pleasant experience if you gave them away to those who need it the most. It will not only make you feel good, but you will have less stuff to deal with while packing.

If you own stuff that will not benefit anyone, then get rid of it without thinking twice.

Take pictures of cords before unplugging them

One of the biggest problems you will face while moving is placing electronics the way they were before. To overcome this problem, all you need is a camera. Take pictures of electronics before you disassemble them. If taken into consideration, you will be able to hook them up with ease.

Also, make sure you label similar looking cords so you can tell what cable came from what appliance – a simple color dot on each item will help you match them all together later.

Save Space and Protect Glassware using Clothes

Believe it or not, you can actually save a lot of space with the help of clothes you own. Well, your tees, shirts, and socks can be used to wrap glassware and other fragile items. What this means is that you will save a lot of money as well, which would have otherwise be needed for bubble wrap.

Pack Loose Hardware in Labeled Bags

When taking furniture apart, you will want to keep loose pieces safe and sound. For this reason, it would be wise to place loose pieces in bags and labeling them.

Even though you do not necessarily have to take furniture apart, it is a better way to make sure everything remains intact, unless you much prefer risking getting them scratched and worse, broken.

To prevent a mix-up with the bags and items therein, take one furniture apart at a time.

Do Not Forget your Pets

Seeing how overwhelming a move can be, it confuses people and prevents them from making the right decisions. One such instance where people get confused is about their pets, and how to deal with them especially if they are flying to the new destination. Remember, your canine friend needs time to adjust to the moving process, and it is crucial that you check on them frequently.
