With all the sun, the great weather and the general cheerfulness of the summer, improving your well-being should be a piece of cake. And if you spend your days with these five secrets in mind, you’ll be happy, healthy and comfortable, lifting your well-being near the state of perfection.

Hydration

One of the main things to keep you healthy and energized during the hot summer months is water. It helps you improve your overall health, promotes good digestion, makes your skin look and feel amazing, and may even help you lose weight. So, start your day with a glass of water and some lemon in it, don’t leave your home without a bottle of it and make sure you drink at least 6-8 glasses a day. You might find cold sugary and sparkly drinks tempting, but resist them to the best of your capabilities, since they are not really good for you and they won’t provide you with the same benefits as plain water. If you want to infuse it with some flavor, do it with citrus fruits, berries or cucumber, or boil some green tea with lemon, let it cool in your fridge and drink that instead.

Nutrition

No matter how pleasant the summer sun feels, it can cause damage to your skin, hair and eyes, which is why it’s important to adjust your nutrition to the season. Along with staying hydrated, your skin will appreciate if you eat food rich in antioxidants and vitamin C, such as berries, or loaded with protein, like nuts, beans and lean meats. Protein is also great for your hair, while by cutting out sugary foods, you can help your body avoid infections from staying in your wet swimsuit after swimming. Also, the more leafy greens, bell peppers and carrots you eat, the healthier your eyes will be. Keep your diet light and eat as much fresh food, such as fruit and vegetables, as you can. Avoid greasy foods and white bread, as well as alcohol, and you’ll stay fit and happy during the summer months.

The Science Behind Cold Plunge
I'm sure by now you've come across videos of celebrities and influencers slowly lowering themselves into ice bath tubs. You watch the person tense up and their eyes widen when the icy shock first hits them. They proceed to lower themselves in until they're submerged to their neck. But advocates...

Sun exposure

Being outside in the fresh air can have many benefits for your physical and mental health, which is why you should make the best of the bright and sunshiny days of summer. It can boost your mood and your immune system, and even help lower your blood pressure and cholesterol levels. If possible, take as many of your regular activities outside as you can, but also be aware of the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation that comes from the sun. So, try staying in the shade and away from the direct sun to avoid burns and dehydration, especially from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. since that’s when the sun is at its strongest. Find a discount chemist online, order some quality sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, apply it about half an hour before you leave your home, and then reapply it from time to time, especially if you decide to spend your day at the beach. Wear a hat and sunglasses and you’ll know you’ve done what you can to protect yourself.

Physical activity

Just like most other things, your physical activity should be in accordance with the weather. So, while it would be practical and even useful, be careful you don’t overwork yourself in the blazing heat. Go jogging or biking instead of spending your time in the closed spaces of a gym, go swimming or have fun trying out some summer sports, such as canoeing, water skiing or beach volleyball. Go dancing or do yoga but stay active to improve your mental and physical well-being. The best parts of the day for these activities would be early morning and late afternoon, or even early evening, to stay safe from the direct sun while working out.

Although one way to improve your well-being is by making enough money to be able to afford anything you need, you should also make time in your schedule to have some good old simple fun. If all you do is work, you risk burning out and becoming grumpy, miserable and tired. Find time to spend with your friends, to read a good book, see a film, or simply have a cup of coffee and clear your mind of negative thoughts. Meet new people whenever the opportunity arises, listen to music, visit new restaurants or travel to new places. Whatever you do to make yourself feel good and relaxed will help you maintain balance in your life and improve your well-being.
